Driving
Tips 1
|
| Before driving, always do a quick safety check of your car. Take a look at the tires to make sure they are properly inflated, check to make sure your lights and turn signals are working properly. Check for fluid leaks or items that may be hanging from the vehicle. Make sure your windshield wipers and horn are working properly. | |

Driving
Tips 2
|
| When stopping at a stop sign, make sure that as you apply your brakes you feel the car rock backwards slightly before moving forward again. Also make sure that you look to the left, then to the right, then straight forward, then again to the left before moving. This is also a good idea if you are at a traffic light that has just turned green. | |

Driving
Tips 3
|
| Do not always assume what the other driver is going to do. If you are at a four-way stop and there is an oncoming car. Do not assume that the car will stop at the sign. If you are stopped and the oncoming car is using their turn signal, do not assume that the car is actually going to turn. | |

Driving
Tips 4
|
| If you are traveling behind other vehicles, you should always maintain a distance of at least four seconds between yourself and the next vehicle. To determine this timing, if the car in front of you passes a non-moving object, count to see how long it takes you to pass the same object. Back off your speed somewhat if you pass the object before counting to four. Increase this distance to eight seconds during bad weather or at night. | |

Driving
Tips 5
|
| No matter how good a driver you may be, you cannot depend that the other driver is just as good as you are! Always look at the drivers around you and make sure that they are not doing anything that could endanger you, such as weaving in and out of traffic, speeding excessively, etc., and stay away from these drivers as much as possible! | |
